The suites will be designed as New York Style Loft areas which will include a bathroom, living area and office area in each suite. The idea is to provide local professionals with open-area offices and work spaces with lots of light, and all the amenities of home. Their office becomes their “home away from home”. And their work environment becomes as comfortable as a living environment.

Haircut and a Beer: V’s Barbershop Now Open

The barbershop, which combines old-fashioned services with some modern conveniences, had a soft opening Wednesday, May 26. It will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. six days a week, closed on Sundays. Bakerview Square is on West Bakerview Road near Whatcom Community College.

The modern conveniences include flat-screen televisions. The Washington State Liquor Control Board also has approved the business selling bottled beer. Owner Evah Thurman said she wants to create an atmosphere that is relaxed and social while getting a haircut.

Along with haircuts, other services include straight-edge razor shave and shoe shine.

Chinese Martial Arts Academy Moves In

Earlier this month, the Chinese Martial Arts Academy moved into a bigger space in Bakerview Square.

The academy, formerly at 1705 N. State St., is owned by Christopher Strelau. The new space will allow the academy to offer new classes, including Balintawak arnis (Filipino stick fighting), tai chi for seniors, advanced tai chi and Hung Gar kung fu.

At three times the floor space, the Bakerview Square location allows for other additions, including a kitchen and two offices. Bakerview Square is on West Bakerview Road near Whatcom Community College.

“It’ll be especially great for parents,” Strelau said in a press release. “They can shop while the kids learn kung fu or they can participate in our concurrent boot camps to get in shape.”

On Sunday, June 13, there will be an all-day Balintawak seminar with grandmaster Bobby Taboada.

Charter College Coming to Bakerview Square

BELLINGHAM, WA. November 23, 2009 – Bakerview Square is pleased to announce that Charter College will be a new anchor tenant in the latest phase of the commercial development.

Charter College will be the latest, and largest tenant at Bakerview Square. Their new Bellingham campus will encompass up to 23,000 square feet. Charter College offers career-focused education in the growing fields of Business, Health Care, Criminal Justice and Information Technology. They offer both degree and/or diploma programs. This enables students to start sooner and finish faster by providing hands-on training. This approach reinforces classroom and laboratory learning, with smaller class sizes where students have more interaction with the instructors.

Charter College has campuses in Alaska, California and the Tri-Cities area of Eastern Washington, along with on-line courses. Programs vary by campus location. The new Bellingham campus will open January 2010 via temporary classrooms in the Square, with the completion of the permanent space scheduled for February 2010.

Two New Business Open at Bakerview Square

BELLINGHAM, WA. November 16, 2009 – Bakerview Square is pleased to announce the opening of two new businesses at the retail/business center. The two new tenants now open for business are BriteSmile Med Spa and Beauty in the Bead.

BriteSmile Med Spa is a state-of-the-art spa that specializes in the latest advances in technology for cosmetic dentistry, skin rejuvenation and anti-aging aesthetic procedures. The national company offers services ranging from non-surgical facelifts, anti-aging and skin rejuvenation treatments to include BOTOX Cosmetic, Restylane and Perlane, to cosmetic dentistry. Jeanette Schank, manager, relocated the business to Bakerview Square from Bellis Fair mall.

Beauty in the Bead specializes in gemstone beads and pearls, and has a wide offering other beads and accessories. ToiAnn Hanson and Linda Mercadonte, owners of Beauty in the Bead, created the store to showcase beads, stones, and local handmade jewelry. They also create a unique Bead Bar. The store has new items and sales every week, and they also consign beads.

The Fireside Martini and Wine Bar Coming!

BELLINGHAM, WA. June 7, 2009- The Fireside Martini and Wine Bar will be coming to Bakerview Square. They will be serving martinis by the shaker, unique wines from the Pacific Northwest, appetizers and meals.

Choices Home Health Store now Open at Bakerview Square
