New Store Big On Baby Products

Dave Gallagher, The Bellingham Herald

With two small children, Laura Lee Bosman had a tough time trying to find baby products in Whatcom County, and that got her thinking other parents might too.

That led to Along Comes A Baby, which is scheduled to open a 6,000-square-foot showroom at Bakervew Square on Sept. 1. Bosman’s store will offer a wide variety of furniture and other merchandise for infants, toddlers and expectant mothers.

“Especially after Toys R Us closed in Bellingham, we saw a need in this community,” said Bosman. “We’re stocking everything from diaper cream to cribs and car seats, and hopefully it’ll save expectant parents some trips to Seattle.”

Along Comes A Baby will also have an online store and a baby registry that can be done online or at the showroom. Bosman expects the online part of the business to be ready in October.

Finding a retail space this large was a challenge, but Bosman believes she’s found a great location, being near new home developments and Bellis Fair.

The store will be open seven days a week. For more information, call 671-5523.

IHOP NEARLY READY

Also at Bakerview Square, the IHOP is scheduled to open on Tuesday.

Aysa Saadat, who also owns the IHOP on Samish Way, said last week he just got through hiring about 100 people who were finishing up training classes. He said the Bakerview Square restaurant is only the second one in the country with this new design, combining the A-frame style IHOP was known for in the 1950s with the modern-look of the restaurants in the 1990s. It will seat 156 people.
